I had promised the availability of our Club's Brochure with dates and location. (enjoy)
I finally got a hold of the organizers of the MADCC Swap Meet down in Milwaukee. Gerald T informed us that they had moved the event to a facility in Franklin WI. They were nice enough to send us some information about their event.
The first meeting of the year was a success. I had not had a chance to check out the place. I was worry that the place was going to be too big or too small, nevertheless it turned out just perfect. We are grateful the Oshkosh Fire Department and the Chief have allowed us to use this meeting space in one of their stations. It turned out to be pretty clean and nice place. The facility has everything we need inclusive of parking, bathrooms, heat, and tables.
I was worry that only Randy and I would show up. Thankfully, the old crew got back together and there was a good exchange of information and treasure hunts. Sadly a handful of our friends from Appleton showed up a little late, but hey there is always next month. The event ended with everyone going home with some new toys and a little bit of cash. This is the first of many entries. Hopefully we can get the club membership up again. I started collecting hotwheels in 2004. After a long hiatus between Childhood and Adulthood. I remember going to target and seeing the diecast aisle from afar. It wasn't until I started connecting modern hot wheels with memories of the past that I decided to start collecting a few here and there.
9 years later, I continue to collect, but specialize more on special pieces like treasure hunts and now secret chase cars that have become almost an obsession. I have had the privilege of meeting good collectors and dealers and some that still experience the hobby with the mindset of a 7 year old. Overall, the experience allows me to walk a little bit more on my toy hunts and have something of collectable value to share with my son. |
